KAMPALA: As part of the efforts to improve efficiency in the courts, the Judiciary on Wednesday (March 11, 2020) held a one-day induction training for its administrative staff.
The training,which took place at the Judiciary headquarters in Kampala, was officiated by the Under Secretary, Ms. Maureen Kasande.
Across-section of new staff totaling 130 comprised research officers, office attendants, office supervisors, assistant accountants, drivers and court clerks/interpreters benefited from the induction.
Ms. Kasande urged the participants to pay attention since it would help me them acquire the necessary knowledge to succeed in their careers in civil service.
"In whatever you are doing please aim at excellence for you will be known by your works. Excellence speaks for itself," she said, adding that they need to be trustworthy public servants. The Under Secretary stressed the need of healthy living, reading and living within their means to avoid temptations of mishandling funds.
Ms. Apophia N. Tumwine, Ag. Commissioner Human Resource said her office had organized the training to orient staff on their rights, duties and obligations during their service.
Her presentation revolved around the operational structure and mandate of the Judiciary, code of conduct and dress code.
The participants were equally taken through terms and conditions of the service, communication in the service, records management and performance management cycle.
The other facilitators were officials from the Ministry of Public Service and the Judiciary. These included Commissioner Records and Information Management, Ms. Rose Lilian Ariso, Program Officer at the Civil Services College Jinja, Mr. Ronnie Mbabali Kiwumulo and Judiciary Senior Human Resource Officers, Ms. Suzan Akello and Ms. Caroline Aguti.
The climax of the induction was when participants signed the Oath of Secrecy, a function that was presided over by the Principal Assistant Secretary, Mr Sulaiman Hirome.
